Call me Wheezer

I had a bad asthma attack last night, after a couple of days with a stuffy nose. I was wheezing, with my chest and nostrils heaving to work super hard to suck air in. I couldn't sleep like this so I was crying throughout the night. My parents took me to the emergency room, and I hated it. I kicked and screamed and twisted and thrashed and did everything I could to get away. The doctor and hospital staff were quite amazed. I don't think they've seen many with as "strong will" as mine... haha - watch out! But my parents pinned me down and after 7 hours and several breathing treatments, I am breathing better. (whew!)

If it's true that a person's immune system becomes stronger if they get sick often as an infant, I'm going to be one healthy adult! :-p

Summer fun

The weather is finally warm! There are so many great things to do over the summer. Here we are on a pool playdate at Kenzo's house...

...and at a farewell BBQ for playgroup buddy Peri who is moving back to Brazil.

Vegas, baby!

Pawpaw (Mommy's Mommy), Mommy and I flew to Vegas to melt in the 112 degree heat. It was so hot that we wound up staying at our hotel (the Venetian) most of the time. This was fine with me because it already had all of my favorite things... water, boats, music, and wide open spaces!

Playing in the pool was a cooling reprieve from the heat. This pool went up to my hip, a perfect height for me.

They upgraded our room (to the "Venetian Piazza") so I had lots of areas to climb, run to and rest. I liked rolling around on the bed.

I also enjoyed running around the wide open carpeted spaces while scoping out all of the restaurants in Restaurant Row, especially those with fountains and a hot beat. Even the airplane ride was fun; we played Barf Bag Hand Puppet. I had a couple of meltdowns at inopportune public places (restaurants, shopping mall) because Mommy kept making me sit in one place. This resulted in her first white hair, but all in all it was a good trip.

Weekend trip to Twain Harte lake

We rented a house up at Twain Harte with several of our friends. It was like a big slumber party playdate! I enjoyed the lake after taking some time to get comfortable. I didn't like when my feet didn't touch the ground. But when I got on my floatie on land and slowly drifted out, I felt much better.

Here I am testing out the "woah" (my pronunciation for "water").

...with my friends Eliana, Matthew, Jason. (Mia was back in the cabin)

Matthew was really trying to be sweet to me this weekend. Mommy was taking a shower and I really missed her. I kept crying and crying eventhough Daddy tried to calm me down. Matthew found her lotioning up, took her hand, and led her to me. That was the best present ever! I was so happy to see her! But after that, Matthew took my hand and led me outside to play. Three's a crowd and he didn't want Mommy there anymore. He kept taking Mommy's hand away from me, even though I kept grabbing it back. It made me really upset! After that, I was annoyed with him, so I dogged him when he enthusiastically tried to play peekaboo with me.

Oh, and I cracked everyone up when the grownups were watching golf on TV because I cried every time a guy wearing orange pants played. I couldn't help it; orange pants are so WRONG!

Daddy's company picnic

Once again, my favorite part was the fountain. Oh, and the snacks. And the beanbags. And peeking into the glass offices.

I'm back on the chart, continued

I visited my new doctor today for another 18 month appointment. Not only am I back on the chart, but my height "shot up" from 30 to 31 3/4 inches since my last appointment 3 weeks ago! That pushed me up to the 50th from the 25th percentile that I've always been at. My Mom thinks that someone was not measuring right, but I say that it's because of all of those rice noodles that I've been scarfing on. I am also officially over 20 pounds, by 3 3/4 ounces (4th percentile)! My head circumference is in the 8th percentile at 44.5 cm.

Anyway, I've added lots of new words to my vocabulary. I can't quantify all of the words that I comprehend, but here are my latest spoken words:

Dada - Daddy
moah - more
bebe - baby
cah - car
bah-bwo - bubble
pweeece - please
woah - water
mmmm! - this is yummy!
pee pee - you are on the can
ehsh - yes
juice - juice
woof - dog (previously, panting)
no? - no (previously, "neh")
eeee - this is something gross, typically a hair
hiyee - hi
yay - yay! (i.e. this is awesome!)
me - my parents think I'm saying "me" but they can't get how I would know this
baba - this is the end of the activity (from Music Together)

New baby sign
fingers together and in front of mouth - eat

Quality Daddy time

While Mommy was gone this weekend, I got to spend quality time with Daddy. I was pretty bummed out when she left, but boy is Daddy fun! He fed me bacon, ice cream, french fries and all sorts of foods that Mommy has been hiding from me. I got to run around a car dealership and experience my first drive-through fast food. Boy, it sure is different being with Daddy! Here's us on a pool playdate at Kenzo's new house.
