A note from the teacher
"Isabella has been doing a wonderful job reading her books. She gets very excited when she is moving on to a new book and loves sharing the excitement with her friends. Way to go, Isabellea! Keep up the good work! :-)"

Teacher's conference
At the latest teacher conference, my teachers were very complimentary. I am currently learning multiplication and am reading my 12th book. My favorite activities are the sensorial activities, which challenge the senses and introduce the decimal system. They report that I am very focused and disciplined. Even though I am on average 45 minutes late and miss circle time, the teachers save a job for me because they know I like to help and have a job. I get along well with everyone well, even my little brother!

A Visit to the Symphony
Today was my first visit to the San Francisco Symphony, for their open rehearsal at Davies Symphony Hall. We sat in the first tier side boxes, which provided an excellent vantage point. We were close but one level up so we could look down at all the instruments. I was at the edge of my seat and leaning forward in anticipation as the conductor raised his baton and they first played a modern violin concerto by Adès. There was a lot of percussion and, because it was modern, dissonance. I sat for about 30 minutes, but then I started covering my ears and complaining the drums were too loud. So we stepped out and we looked at the symphony store for a little while. Mommy obliged when I asked her to buy me something, which always makes for a good day! The orchestra then started rehearsing Mozart's Symphony # 39, so we went up to the second tier to watch. This section was pretty empty so we didn't feel uncomfortable about whispering or the volume. I immediately noticed that all the percussionists were gone and I was so relieved. I enjoy classical music much better! We left after they finished that piece, a total of 75 minutes at the Symphony... just the right amount of time. I later asked Mommy when we were going back to see more!

Life goes on, BRAH!
My buddy and I belted out all the kids' songs for a solid hour at the karaoke box. Then the grownups started busting out all the adult tunes. Mommy was impressed when I sang Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends" with her after only hearing it once! I got good at yelling "Ghostbusters!", doing the "YMCA" and screaming "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Life goes on, BRAH!!!!!!" This evening spawned my obsession with "Sound of Music". My parents concluded any song, even ones they love, played 30 times in a row gets old fast!

Secret's out
My teachers gave my parents this note today: "Isabella loves to help around the classroom. Every afternoon, she goes around the classroom and looks to see if all the activities are on the right shelf. And if they are not, she helps fix them and is very proud of herself when she is done. :-)"
When my parents read this to me, I looked at them and said "That's not true!" I can't believe that my teachers wrote this! Now I'm going to be expected to clean up at home! I hate cleaning up at home! @#$%&!
Later, I admitted to Mommy that the note was true, and the reason why I didn't like cleaning up at home was because I didn't know where to put things away. Mommy has taken that as a cue to more aggressively donate my toys. Double @#$%&!

My school of choice
I got into my kindergarten school of choice! Sometimes the best option can be the easy one.

Don't blame earwax
My hearing has gone down a cliff recently, and my parents suspected more hardened ear wax. We tried to get it out with Debrox, wax removing tools, but to no avail. We found out it was an ear infection in both ears! I didn't have a fever so who would have suspected? The amoxicillin medicine is sure a delicious orange cream flavor. I can't wait 'til it's medicine time!

5 Year Check-up
At my 5 year check up, I measured 42 1/4 inches tall and 35 pounds. That puts me at 50th percentile for height and 20th percentile for weight! My parents are surprised that one of their kids is actually considered normal size.

A flattering note from my teachers
"Isabella is such a kind spirited child. She is always ready and willing to help her classmates. We are so grateful to have her as a part of our class. Thank you very much, Isabella!"

Reading
I've just passed my 6th book called "Vic and Sid" and am on to my next one. I love reading! It has been my favorite activity since I was a baby, so I'm so excited I can read myself now!
