Happy Halloween!

I was a lady bug for my first Halloween. My parents went all out and transformed the front of our new house into a graveyard. We only had a few trick or treaters, who came after I fell asleep. (I got confused by this whole daylight savings thing.)

Notice how well I'm standing in the far right picture. I stood for several seconds without support for the first time today! To see more pictures from today, click here.

I wave bye bye

I am learning so much each day. I am associating actions with their consequences, anticipating things, and understanding people a little more. When I crawl away from my Mommy, she always says "bye bye" and waves to me. Today, I understood what she meant, and waved back!

I am more confident

I'm a little bit more confident these days. I can crawl fast; I eat all sorts of solid foods; I am steady when I pull myself to standing. Now, I am experimenting with communicating without crying. Whenever someone asks me a question or says "yes yes yes", I like to shake my head. They always laugh so I must be getting through somehow! Sometimes when my Mom says "no" I stop what I'm doing, look at her and giggle innocently. I am feeling so good about myself that I am tolerating other people holding me once in a while. And, not only do I sometimes not cry when my Mommy leaves my sight, but I actively leave her immediate perimeter! Granted, I crawl back to her once in a while to hug her to feel secure, but after that I'm off to explore once again. I'm growing up!

I catch a cold

*sniff sniff!* I caught my first official cold today after a rain storm hit while we were shopping. To add to my discomfort, my top front right tooth is also coming out. Great, just what I need! I've bit my Mommy a couple of times because I'm not used to it.

I'm back online!

The Izzy-Cam is back online, after a brief hiatus due to our move. Now the camera is pointed into my bedroom so that my Mommy can spy on me while I am sleeping (or rather, when I am playing in my crib when I should be napping - sssh! don't tell her!)

Update: Izzy-Cam has been turned off indefinitely.

Cal beats UCLA for my first sporting event

We went to a Cal - UCLA football game today. Initially, I was totally freaked out because there was so much abrupt screaming and cheering. We even walked over to the Student Section to meet Oski, but it was so rowdy that I cried. But by halftime, I got used to the loud noise. I became fascinated by the flags, marching band, cheerleaders, big TV screen, and crazy fans. I didn't really watch the game, but everyone was really happy because we won 45-28! GO BEARS!

My favorite part of the game was playing with my Dad's face.

I meet my grandfather

My Daddy's Daddy visited us from Taiwan. I usually don't like people that I don't know, but there is something about this man that I instantly liked. I guess I sensed a kind of familiarity. He made me laugh and generally happy, even when my Mom couldn't!

So, if I'm supposed to look like my Dad, and my Dad is supposed to look like my Grandfather, by transitive property, does that mean that I look like this dude?

Seattle: My first plane ride

I took my first plane ride this weekend to Seattle. What an adventure! Since the flight was full, I sat on Mommy’s lap while Daddy sat in the center seat. The only time I slept was when I was nursing during takeoff - and missed this awesome view of San Francisco!

The rest of the time, it was way too exciting to be cuddled so closely to my two favorite playmates so I didn’t nap the rest of the flight. My parents were more fun to watch than the clouds!

In Seattle, we really enjoyed Pike Place Market. We went there all three days! I was mesmerized by all the people and lights.

By far my favorite part of the trip was the hotel. I love exploring new play areas.

My Daddy cracks me up when we play Abu Ghraib and he hangs me upside down!
I took a great 2 hour nap on Mommy & Daddy’s bed. If only my crib came with a pillow top mattress and high thread count Egyptian cotton sheets!

Diaper changes have become wrestling matches since I always try to run away.

Even with this big new area to explore, I still cling to my Mommy every chance I get.

On the return flight back, a security person frisked me when my Dad and I set off the metal detector. That was funky. I again didn’t nap on the plane, except right when we landed. I must have passed out from exhaustion from a great trip!

I try out a nanny

I usually don't like strangers, but I liked Maria, the nanny Mommy found for me today. I didn't cry when she held me, she made me laugh when she played with me, and I went down like butter on warm bread when she put me down for a nap. She'll be looking after me one day a week to give my Mommy a little break since I've become quite a clingy little koala bear.

(Note: We let Maria go after a month.)

I'm 9 months old!

At this appointment, I measured in at 26" tall, 16 1/8 head circumference, and 13 3.4 ounces. I guess I've been so active that I burned off any weight that I might have gained in the last 3 months. I totally fell off the curve, which makes my Mommy nervous! Even if my Mommy has to feed me while I am playing, I now eat a 4 ounce jar of baby food for 2 meals, with snacks such as the Korean snack Pong Pong, a rice and corn puffed cracker. (LOVE it!)
