I'm walking!

After about a month of the Frankenstein walk, I am toddling! So what if I walk like a drunken sailor sometimes. I giggle with glee every step I take, especially with my parents applauding with me!

My first trip to the zoo

I visited the zoo for the first time. I was fascinated at to see the animals that I've been reading about. I have to admit that my favorite part of the zoo was the patio, where I walked around everywhere and pushed the cart around.

Weaned!

I'm weaned as of yesterday! My Mom started in December, and I forgot to nurse with all of the holiday activities and my new discoveries. There were some rough days, with January being a setback since I was sick, but generally it wasn't too bad.

Also, I think I'm allergic to peanut butter. I was munching on a peanut butter cracker and 15 minutes later, I was barfing all over my Mom's sweater. It will teach her to dress nicely for a playdate!

Hola Mexico!

I went on my first international trip - to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - and had a blast! I saw the ocean for the first time. It lulled me to sleep the first day, freaked me out the second day when its waves crashed on me, and I was at peace with it the third day when I realized that's where whales live (like in my current favorite book "Riggledy Jiggledy Joggledy Jam". I call whales "mm" because that's the sound they make.) I hated the feeling of sand on my feet at first but eventually warmed up to it. I enjoyed practicing walking on this unusual surface and digging little bits of it with my shovel. The pool water was too cold for me, but I didn't mind hanging out in the hot tub. I got to experiment with all sorts of food too... I totally got into octopus empanada! I'd tolerate black beans and tortilla until my favorite food bread appeared, in which case I'd throw down what I was working on at the time to get it. I still dig out any avocado product that is put in my mouth.

My favorite part of the trip was the hotel room, which was full of so many treasures to explore! I especially liked playing peekaboo with the sheer drape.

My Mom kept taking me into the pool, but I preferred to have my feet practice walking on the ground than kicking in the water. No matter where I am, I'm always content when sitting on Mommy's lap.

We stayed outside of Puerto Vallerta in a town called Mismaloya. We went shopping for my milk on this street.
We were actually in town for a wedding. Notice how Daddy's yamaka is the same color as my hat!

See more pictures from the trip here.

Bye bye Jean Street!

My parents sold our very first home at Jean Street. We went to say goodbye today. I haven't been there in a while, but I fondly remember the door stops that go BOING and the nice soft carpet that I like to roll around on. I was giggling with glee during our entire visit. I will miss playing here.

Hello? Who's calling?

I go out again

Here's me with my playgroup buddies out on a stroll on Lake Merritt! It's so nice to go out after spending so much time sick inside!

Oh, the places I'll go!

My parents tell me that I'll get to explore lots of new places with my first passport. Yippee! I wonder if they realize that I'd be equally thrilled to explore the Forbidden Bathroom.

Up!

My first word! (well, first official english word which is not "uh oh" or an animal sound) I'm saying it all the time now - when I want to get picked up, when I want to go up the stairs, when I want to go down the stairs, when I want to go outside, ...

No food, please

I haven't been too interested in food for about a month since I've been sick. I prefer to find inedible things on the floor and put them in my mouth instead. My Mom thinks maybe I'm asserting my independence and that I'd be more interested in eating the food if I get to serve myself. But as you can see here, I just like to play with and draw pictures with my food.
